William (Billy) Thomas Capobianco, 78, passed away in Rochester, Michigan on October 17, 2022.
Billy, the eighth child of Frederick and Willena Capobianco, was born in Glen Cove, NY on June 27 th , 1944. He grew up with his 16 brothers and sisters. He was a great lover of cars and classical music. Billy attended St. Patrick's School, in Glen Cove, then continued to St. Pius X Seminary High School before heading off to college at Geneseo in upstate NY. He joined the Navy & served as a Vietnamese interpreter during the Vietnam War, stationed on the aircraft supercarrier, USS Constellation. After serving his country, he journeyed to Geneva, Switzerland to study French and received his Master's Degree. On his return to the states, he joined the family business, Glen Floors in Glen Cove where he was a dedicated salesman.
In his early 30's he met Regina Ritchie in Oyster Bay, NY where they fell in love and shortly after were married and had two children. As a family they loved trips to upstate New York and to Europe. He was a kind and dependable husband and father and fully dedicated to working in the family business. He went above and beyond for his customers, and they loved him for it and for his endearing humor. Billy was very involved within the Glen Cove community, and he loved his church, St. Patrick's of Glen Cove, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. After his retirement in October 2021 he moved to Rochester, Michigan to live closer to his son, daughter-in-law & grandson.
Words cannot convey how special a man Billy was to so many people. His selflessness and ability to see only the good in all people transcends beyond the boundaries of our human existence. He always filled people's hearts with laughter, smiles, and a good old Dad joke with witty puns. He filled the lives of those around him with love, joy, positivity, and generosity, opening his home to so many. If we all can learn to hold the door open for a stranger while telling a corny Dad joke, the world would truly be a better place.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife, Regina Capobianco and his two children Teresa Manolio and Anthony Capobianco; his four grandchildren Stephen, Briana, Santino, and Evren. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara, Carol Nelson, Kenneth, James, Margaret, Joseph, Jane Rodier, Jerome, Marie, and Thomas. He was preceded in passing by his mother & father Willena and Frederick Capobianco and siblings Tonia Zier, Frederick Jr., Richard, John, Michael, and Joan.
So, in Billy's words "As they say in the Alps, Alp be seeing ya!!"
