Thomas J. Mariana, best known to all as "Tom aka Moink" went home on December 1, 2024. He was born the youngest of 5 on January 12 1961 to the late Frances and Albert Mariana in Glen Cove, NY. His mother said when he was born the doctors asked if Tom was the "Last of the caboose". Growing up, Tom attended Catholic School at St. Patricks and eventually landed in Glen Cove Public Schools where he was a member of the Glen Cove high school baseball and basketball team where they almost won the state championship. After High School , Tom, a "hard-working visionary" took over the family business, The Mariana Conveyers before moving on to a Foreman role at Tank Holding for over 20 years. His tenacity and knack for welding and manufacturing allowed him to employ and teach several friends and family members throughout Glen Cove. Where they would frequently travel to work project sites which were more like vacations with his best friends across the United States.
Tom did not leave us to mourn. He loved and lived life. He smiled and will be remembered for his infectious loud laughter. He lived so that we could share his love for people, cherish his memory and continue to celebrate his life. All who God placed in Tom's path appreciated his generosity, love for all sports and loyalty to the New York Yankees. He even had his own softball team, "The Mariana's" which he would host Sunday night Softball games. When not at work he could often be found at any local tavern talking about sports, at Jones Beach listening to Beyonce or 1010 wins while tanning, on his yearly Saratoga horse racing trip or in attendance at a legendary Bobby Knight, Indiana Hoosier game. Tom even had a 3ft replica of his iconic Bobby Knight and every book published.
Tom's memory and legacy will be survived by his three children, Deron (Noonie), Tanarrah and Amanda as well as his stepchildren Rondese and Armish. He enjoyed time spent with his 5 grandchildren Adriana, Sherrod (His "Buddy"), Jaiden, Nasir, and Kali teaching them sports and attending games. He also leaves behind a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family of Tom Mariana wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation, the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown during this time of loss. On his mother Frances' last days she asked for her baby to be taken care of we are now in comfort knowing that they are reunited and she has her baby boy.
