Susan Walker, age 101, a lifetime resident of Glen Cove, died peacefully in her sleep on September 21 ^st just shy of her 102 ^nd Birthday celebration on October 8 ^th . She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Stanley Walker and her daughter Geraldine Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) McGlynn, son-in-law, Ned Baker, four grandchildren John (Teresa) McGlynn, Susan (Edward) Baker Tenthoff, Laura Baker and Christopher McGlynn, along with six great-grandchildren.

Susan known as "Sue", "Susie", "Bunch" or "Grams" to close family and friends worked at Glen Head Country Club, as a Florist in the community and as an avid Volunteer at Old Westbury Gardens until retiring in her late 80's. Her love of life, green thumb, joyous, lighthearted spirit, kindness and generosity touched anyone who came to know her. Widowed in 1982 and a breast cancer survivor, her strength, independence and determination to live life to the fullest was remarkable. She was an incredibly talented crafter and gardener. She loved to laugh and dance as if no one was watching.  Susan declared the secret to her longevity was due to a faithful regimen of ending each day with a scoop of ice cream.  A genuinely beautiful person in every way, she will be dearly missed.

A mass intention will be offered on Wednesday, October 9th at 9:00am at St. Patrick's Church, 235 Glen St, Glen Cove in Susan's name.
