Glen Cove

Obituary

Sheehan, Roseanne D. of Glen Cove on January 11, 2021. Roseanne was born

on February 25, 1926, in New York City, to Margaret and Thomas Devine.

She worked for the Telephone Company as a secretary, then started her own

company working as a freelance administrative assistant.  She was a freelance

organist at area churches, playing one final time at St. Patrick's church in Glen

Cove in early 2019.

Informally she was someone who seemed to be handed the handbook on life –

how to put God first, live it to the fullest, and how to take everyone in her orbit

on the ride with her.  She was an organizer of fun, travel, even arranged for a

meeting with the pope, fun summer weekends at her house, piano playing,

doing/teaching Irish jigs with friends and family, and other activities

celebrating the beautiful town of Glen Cove, so much so that she and her

husband Joe were known at the mayors of Glen Cove.

Mrs. Sheehan was a very active member of her church.  In addition to her work

as the organist, she sang in choirs, and attended church functions.  She was a

dedicated member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Roseanne is survived by her sons, Joseph and Kevin Sheehan, as well as many

children who she was like a second mother or grandmother to, her sister

Patricia LaColla, Patricia's children, Anne, Bob, Jeanne, Rosemary, Sue and

Peter and her extensive, beloved community, of which she was an integral,

well-loved member.

There will be a wake on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, 9:00 a.m. at McLaughlin

Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542, followed

by a Funeral Mass, 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Church, 235 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY

  1. She will be buried with her beloved husband of 59 years, Joseph M.

Sheehan, at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton,

New York 11933.
