Nicole Marie Larkin ("Nicole," "Nic," and "Mom"), of Glen Cove, New York, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, at the age of 54 after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Glen Cove, Nicole graduated from Glen Cove High School before earning her bachelor's and master's degrees in Education from CW Post University. She devoted much of her professional life to education, serving as a Social Studies teacher at North Shore Middle School for over 20 years, where she was deeply respected and admired by both her colleagues and students.
Nicole is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 27 years, Kevin; her cherished sons, Kevin and Kelly; her stepmother Anna; her brothers, Calvin (Cherie), Marcus (fiancée Cathleen), and Michael (Mary), and her sisters, Dawn and Kathy (John). She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Breanna Balsam, Tyler Balsam, Chelsea Balsam, Alaura Balsam, Jared Balsam, Ryan Balsam, Maryan Botts, Keri Boerner, Amelia Kinsella, and Nate Kinsella.
Nicole was predeceased by her grandfather, Nicholas Leary; her mother, Mary Kinsella; her stepfather, Jimmy Kinsella; and her niece, Elisa Miller.
Above all else, Nicole was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, and the heart of her home. She treasured spending time with Kevin and her sons, Kevin and Kelly, and enjoyed taking long walks with her dogs at the Welwyn Preserve - even when the signs suggested otherwise. She had a lifelong fascination with American history and found great joy in sharing that passion with others.
Nicole's impact on those around her was profound. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome and valued from the moment she met them. She brought smiles to people's faces and was known for maintaining a positive outlook even during life's greatest challenges. Her vibrant personality, warmth, and infectious spirit illuminated every room she entered, whether at home, in the classroom, or among friends and family.
Her kindness, unwavering dedication, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor touched the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, service, compassion, and resilience will be cherished and remembered for generations to come.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 3-5pm and 7-9pm, at McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542.
