On Tuesday, February 28th 2023, Dr. Maxima "Emma" Perez, beloved wife of Gilberto passed away peacefully under Palliative Care at North Shore LIJ in Manhasset NY. She was 88. Born to Marceliano and Rosario (Pelayo) Legaspi in Aklan, Phillippines, Emma graduated from medical school at University of Santo Tomas. After medical school, she married Gilberto in 1960 after relocating to the United States together to pursue their careers in medicine. They were happily married just short of 59 years until Gilberto's passing in 2019.
In addition to practicing medicine for nearly 50 years, Emma was also a devoted mother and grandmother to her children, Jacqueline, Giselle (Chris), Kenneth (Bridget), Christine (George), Roger (Alyssa) and grandchildren Olivia, Gessie, Hannah, Timothy, Trevor, Brianne, Crystal and Gwyneth. Wake will be held on Friday March 3rd, 5pm-8pm at McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home followed by funeral on Saturday, March 4th at 9am in St. Patrick's Church in Glen Cove, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (Alz.org).
