Maryann McDermott, born May 1, 1943, entered eternal rest on January 23, 2026.

A woman of deep faith and compassion, Maryann devoted the last 30 years of her life to serving others, particularly the families of U.S. troops deployed overseas. Known affectionately as "Grandma Sunshine," she was a source of comfort, prayer, and hope, and was honored with numerous awards for her selfless service.

Maryann was a loving wife and mother. She was predeceased by her sons, Matthew and Stephen, and is survived by her devoted husband, Paul McDermott, and her sons, Mike McDermott and Joseph McDermott also her sister Dorothy Lombardo.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM at McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 235 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY.
