Marco Malusa of Glen Cove passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023 at the age of 89.  Beloved husband to Marie of over 60 years. Loving father of Sylvia (Bill), Stephen (Patricia), Anthony (Rosanne), Marco (Dana) and Donna (Brandon). Dear brother of the late Dominick.  Adored grandfather to 11 and cherished great grandfather to 4.

Marco was born in Rovinj, Italy to parents Anthony and Francesca. After World War 2, the family was displaced and eventually immigrated to New York in 1951, settling in Glen Cove. In 1953, along with his brother and friends they organized the first Glen Cove soccer team within the Long Island League.  Marco served in the US Army 33rd Armored Regiment,  captaining the soccer team and later as a member of the Division All-Star team toured Europe. Upon returning to Glen Cove, he married Marie the very next day, and over the next 60 years they built a successful painting business, raised a loving family, never met a stranger, and lived life by example over words.

In 1969 he co-founded the Glen Cove Jr. Soccer League which in 1975 evolved to a full intramural city league.  He continued his love of bringing people together through soccer serving on the Long Island Junior Soccer League board for 6 years, but was forever a player, coach, referee, fan and ambassador for Glen Cove Soccer.  Marco touched many lives in the community of Glen Cove through his sense of fairness, teamwork, acceptance, and approachability.

Marco was an active member of St. Rocco's Church, volunteering his time and singing in the choir.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Glen Cove Junior Soccer, (5 Brewster Street, PMB 126 Glen Cove, NY 11542) to support our children and the community he loved.

Services will be held at McLaughlin Kramer Megiel in Glen Cove, Friday October 13th at 2-4pm and 6-8pm. There will be a 10am mass on Saturday at St Rocco's Church.
