Lorraine Manning (nee Moores) originally of Glen Cove and more recently of Preston, Maryland died on July 22, 2022. Loving wife of Robert. Devoted mother of Christopher, Joseph (Katherine), Kateri (Michael) Harkowa and Justin (Alanna). Cherished grandmother of Samantha, Madeline, Peter, Jack, Joseph, Sophia, Patrick, and Sean. Dear sister of Elizabeth Peters, Joseph Moores, and Anne Klein.

Lorraine, daughter of Earl and Sophia Moores, was raised in the Landing section of Glen Cove as one of eight siblings. She attended Saint Patrick's Grammar School and then attended Holy Angels Academy in Fort Lee, New Jersey where she continued fostering a deep and lasting relationship with the School Sisters of Notre Dame. After a break to raise her family, Lorraine received her bachelor's degree from Fordham University School of General Studies where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, Valedictorian in 1983. She also obtained a master's degree in Library Science from CW Post.

She worked at the Talbot County Free Library, Easton, Maryland for nine years. Before that, she worked at Jericho, Roslyn, and Glen Cove libraries on Long Island.

Lorraine was a lover of learning, reading, theology, art, a good cup of tea, and great conversation. All of which she shared richly for 57 years with her husband, Robert. She will be missed by so many who will always remember her as one of the most genuine, honest, and caring persons they had the pleasure of meeting.
