Kathryn Elizabeth Gearin Razza
Suddenly on October 27th, Kathy returned to the Lord. Born in Massachusetts, Long Island was her home for 65 years, living the last 30 years in Roslyn Harbor/Greenvale. She is survived by her devoted sister, Mary, her husband, Brendan, and her nieces and nephew and their families whom Kathy loved dearly. She is also survived by Barbara Ellen Black who has been her friend since college and shared her home in Roslyn Harbor.
Kathy was part of the first graduating class from Molloy College in 1959 and then received her Master's degree from St. John's University under an assistantship. She taught languages at Massapequa High School, retiring in 1996 after 35 years. Kathy was a lector for many years, first in St. Brigid Church Westbury and at St. Mary's in Roslyn Harbor. An ardent and eclectic student, Kathy perpetually expanded her world of knowledge even in retirement through continuing education courses, exploring world history, geo-politics, the theater and opera. With her fervent belief in the power of education, formal and informal, Kathy established the Gearin Family Endowed Scholarship at Molloy College. In her will, she asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to this endowed scholarship fund.
