O'Neill, Joyce T. passed away on November 19th at the age of 86. She was born Flushing, Queens to the late John V. and Elizabeth C. O'Neill. Joyce was one of 6 children. She is survived by sisters Kathleen (Edward) Howard and Patricia (Daniel) Devaney. She was predeceased by her 3 brothers John (Mary also deceased), Robert (Judy) and Terence (Ginny).
Joyce was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years with North Shore Schools. Teaching was not her career, it was her way of life.
In 1968 Joyce became the first single person to ever adopt in the state of New York. She happily loved and cherished 2 daughters, Mary Ann (Charles) Sheppard and Patricia A. O'Neill. She was then further blessed to be grandmother to Rick (Tierra) Tilney and great grandmother to Jaydin, Adalyn and Kinley. The family will receive friends Friday 3 - 5 and 7- 9 pm at McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen Street, Glen Cove. Mass at the Church of St. Hyacinth Saturday 9:30 am. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
